ChianoSky has not only impressed me, but many other South Africans over the past year. After three smash hit singles, the singer has just released her 4th single called Act Like A Man. The track is one of my favourites on the the album and shows a side of ChianoSky we haven’t seen before. Although this radio remix ruins the track for me a little, I still think this is going to be another smash for her!

So there are a shitload of Skrillex fans here in South Africa. So much so that his singles have even been played on 5FM. The latest single from the dubstep king is a track called Breakin’ A Sweat and features a vocal sample from a 1960s interview with Jim Morrison, while the remaining members of The Doors and Skrillex did the chants. The track isn’y my favourite but hey, it’s still Skrillex!

Okay, I know… I’m SUPER late with this track. A friend of mine introduced it to me because they knew I’m an Inna fan and y’all know how much I love Inna. Tulisa used to be a part of N-Dubz and is now a judge on X Factor UK. The track is her debut single off her debut solo album and it’s but such a banger. It sounds like something you’d find in a club in Ibiza and the lyrics are quite catchy. The production is great and her voice isn’t bad either. No wonder the track went to number 1 in the UK.

Olmeca Tequila is proud to announce the Steve Aoki SA Tour, brought to you by Electric. Electric is the team that recently toured deadmau5 and Avicii in SA, and they have even bigger plans for the Aoki SA Tour. The collaboration with Olmeca Tequila, who are famous for the ability to “ignite” a party, means that it will be a tour not to be missed.
Steve Aoki is an American electro house musician, record producer and the founder of Dim Mak records; he’s worked with the likes of Armand van Helden (Brrrat), Afrojack (No Beef), Laid Back Luke and Lil Jon (Turbulence), Tiësto (Tornado), LMFAO and Nervo (Livin my Love) and more. His awards include Best DJ of the year in 2007 (Paper magazine), Best Set of the Season in 2007 (Ibiza Awards), Best Party Rocker DJ in 2007 by BPM magazine, and Best Mix Album of the Year in 2008 by Billboard.
Known for his crazy antics (he includes a canoe in his DJ ryder – for crowd surfing!) and onstage performance, Steve Aoki offers up a head-banging, foot-stomping, extremely high-energy performance.
Olmeca Tequila is excited to be involved with another top international DJ coming to SA. In keeping with their long-standing commitment to provide the best electronic music experiences to all the ‘party starting’ consumers of Olmeca Tequila and the public in general.
Nicky Romero, will be joining the Olmeca Tequila Steve Aoki SA Tour as a special guest for the Cape Town and Johannesburg shows. Given the significant demand for tickets, Electric has also decided to change the Cape Town venue to Thunder City, which previously saw the likes of Avicii. 5FM early bird birthday special tickets are now available from Computicket.

So I’ve found these random local house group called Mainstr3me, and I must say I see a lot of potential in them. This track has already been playlisted on 94.7 Highveld Stereo and sure, it’s not the best production in the world, or the best vocals but it just fits. The track gets you hooked automatically (well, it did for me) and I couldn’t wait to go find the song. I would have liked to hear the beats a bit harder, it would have given it that club vibe. All these guys need is to find themselves a record deal now and have people who know the industry work with them and they’ll be a hit!

The Veronicas are ready for their comeback ladies and gentlemen. We havent heard any new music from these Australian sisters in what feels like forever, but they’re back with a new single, a new sound and readying a new album. Lolita, the first single, is a pop/rock power track with heavy dance beats. Their vocals are still on point and it’s great to see the sisters release music that is relevant to what is popular today. Hopefully the girls will smash worldwide with this single.

Sean Paul has finally decided on the next single off his Tomahawk Technique album after Hold On failed to make any impact on the charts. He is enlisting the help of Kelly Rowland on the sweet and sultry ‘How Deep Is Your Love’. The song is definitely a stand-out track for me and it really proved just how underrated Kelly Rowland is. I’m expecting big things.
Favourite lyric: How deep is your love? How deep does it go? It’s my rundown to the ocean floor.

Miley Cyrus has been having a busy couple of weeks. The 19-year-old singer/actress got engaged (before us — we’re still kind of bitter about it), is supposedly in the process of having her tattoos removed, and is now featured on a track called ‘Morning Sun’ by Rock Mafia. But if the song looks and sounds familiar to you, that’s because a demo was released a whopping two years ago. We know — they’ve clearly been sitting on their butts those past two years. Video also surfaced featuring the former ‘Hannah Montana’ star recording the song in the studio, but alas, the official version is finally here! The song is fun, it’s poppy, and we’re a sucker for a good Miley Cyrus jam so whatevs. But we’ll still be rocking ‘Party in the USA’ until we die.

David Lindgren is the latest Swedish singer to have caught my attention recently. He has just released his brand new single in Sweden titled Rendezvous. ‘Rendezvous’ is a scorching hot club track tailored for the sound of today. If the next generation were to look back on 2012 and inquire as to what perfectly showcased what commercial radio has sounded like over the last 12 month, we could hold David Lindgren’s ‘Rendezvous’ up as an example. It definitely gives me that pop/dance vibe that many artists today are going for.
Favourite lyric: If I had you we could get into this perfect Rendezvous

Wynter Gordon, a singer/songwriter best known for her club hits “Dirty Talk,” “Buy My Love” and her vocals on Flo Rida’s top 5 2009 single “Sugar,” is going the D.I.Y. route. Though still signed to current label Atlantic/Big Beat after the release of her single “Still Getting Younger,” Gordon is prepping a self-released collection of four free EPs called “The Human Condition” – the first of which, “Doleo” (Latin for “pain”) is out July 9. “Doleo”‘s lead single “Stimela”, for example, was inspired by Hugh Masekala’s anti-apartheid song of the same name and features a chorus sung in Zulu and African-pop production reminiscent of early-80s Genesis and solo Phil Collins.
